It made Oi larf (serving sizes on high-carb snack foods)

Lidl very much bucking the trend of suggesting unrealistically small serving sizes to make their traffic lights greener, unlike haribo with "three sweets is a portion, even though there are 4 flavours in a pack so we know you'll eat more"

First time I've ever eaten less than the recommended serving size of a savoury snack!

I dread to think how many people might be following the recommendation - 115g carbs per serving? Ouch!
 
What was it?

Apart from very dark chocolate and the odd "clean ingredients "( ie cream, eggs, sugar ) ice cream I try not to buy anything over 10g carbs per 100g, preferably 5
 
At 77g carb per 100g I’d be going nowhere near this in any case, my limit is 5g carb per 100g. Can I ask what it is (if it’s crisps of the cheese & onion variety then maybe I could be persuaded) crisps are my kryptonite
 
It was a packet of honey, mustard and onion pretzel pieces. Unfortunately unlike the major supermarkets, Lidl don't publish nutritional values online, just descriptions. If I like the look of something and ask my husband to get one to try, I won't know how "bad" it is until I see the packet. Although to be fair, pretzels were never going to be low carb anyway!

Still, I did eat far less than the serving size for once...

Edit: Luckily it's now French week at Lidl - far healthier than American week. The fridge is now bursting with interesting cheeses
 
I was curious because crisps only good feature is they don't weigh much!

I understand the temptation! Just be warned in American week there's nothing absolutely nothing suitable for us. Even the cheese is processed!

Tomorrow, being French week, I'm hoping to get some of the courgette gratins from the freezer section which aren't too bad carb wise and are useful for a treat. Also the salmon tart if you can resist (or find someone else) to eat the pastry. And I've got my eye on the cheeses too
 
I did wonder about the frozen gratins, they look like egg muffins but I couldn't look up the ingredients or nutritional value online. If you reckon they're good I'll ask hubby to pick some up on Sunday when he goes back for some metal "ice" cubes - the ones that don't dilute the drinks.

We have a half side of salmon already so I'll pass up the tart for now. I find it very easy to resist pastry unless it's flaky or puff. Crisps however, especially salt & vinegar, call out to me, especially in the hot weather!

If I manage to get some I'll post the details for you. Yes Lidls annoying the way you can't see details online, and they're notorious for changing recipes too, so even when something seems OK, the next time it may not be.
It is easier over the longer term just to ignore ready made as much as possible. Hubby still indulges occasionally but we have strict His or Her tins and freezer shelves. Neither of us is allowed to raid each others
 
This is the info on the carrot, courgette and broccoli gratins, found in the freezer cabinet. 4 to a box. A serving is 1. And about 10g carbs.
Hard to only have 1 though.

The salmon tart from chilled cabinet. A portion is half. As the pastry is 1/3 of the product means filling is somewhere around 15g carbs. Thickened with maize starch but thats the only processed ingredient. Tasty but not very much of it.
Whole thing was £2.99

It's my main indulgence since I no longer eat or drink much sugar or alcohol.

Successfully keeping it to once or twice a week, so not going to stop altogether for the moment.
