Hi, i'm 32 and recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
Before my diagnosis i use go to the gym before i start work in the morning and have breakfast when i get back. I was just just wondering now that i have diabetes is it better for me to eat some food before i go to the gym or if it is still ok to carry on as normal.
I'm just worried about hypo symptoms during my workout...
It depends on your blood glucose levels beforehand and afterwards, and of course your energy levels during your gym workout. I personally would have some toast, nothing to heavy and eat when I came back.
Hi ya, I couldn't exercise in the morning without having insulin and food first (well, I can now I have a pump as I can adjust my morning basal rate). As exercise can cause your liver to dump, be careful of going too high post-exercise 8)
