Hi, my name is jak and i'm 20 years old. I've had type 1 diabetes for 8 years and have never really controlled it. At my last consultation after having alot of problems it became clear that i am currently suffering from depression apparently due to not accepting diabetes. Over the last few months i've lost alot of weight and i think thats what has really got to me. All i want to do now is turn it all around, put on a couple of stone and generally be happier and healthier. This forum seems like a good idea as i don't really talk to anybody else with type 1 diabetes and have never really had any good advice from an experienced diabetic.
Cheers.
Hello Jak, welcome to the forum.
Don't worry, there are lots of type 1's on the forum, myself included, who will help you out as best we can. I only know a handful of diabetics in the real world, but hundreds on here.
Stick around and we'll help if we can.
at the moment the only thing that gets to me about being diabetic is being so thin, i used to be quite chubby when i was younger and everyone said i'd grow up to be stocky. At the age of 20 i weigh just over 7 stone and i know its down to poor control. If i get my sugar levels in check should this help to gain weight?
Hi again Jak,
Have a read through the T1 Forum you may find some answers there, Fergus will offer you a lot of sound advice. As far as your sugar levels go, good control is a priority.
hya jak and welcome,
once you get under control and eating properly your weight should right itself, ask as many questions as u need to and someone will answer them
