After some time of being in denial and hovering on the brink, I finally got a BM of 12.9 which is about it, I suppose. No more wavering. Got to bite the bullet (as opposed to the the chocolate!) and face up to the fact.

This is not how I planned by life!

BTW I have two sisters with LOD, had a mother and two of her sisters had it too, so it was only a matter of time.

Hello world!

Hi Miss CS and welcome to the forum Yes, you'll have to get down to business now! However it's possible to keep your diabetes under good control with some effort. Here is the advice of the forum monitors which should help you to achieve this.

Daisy, that is VERY helpful - thank you so much for posting it. I shall try out that test.

I actually already have a BM monitor - given my family history, my weight and my age, I thought it was just a matter of time before my body turned on me! Plus I'm a nurse so I knew the score.

After just one day I've managed to get my numbers down some but whether I can keep it up is another thing!

Keep it up - you're doing well

I managed to get down to 8.1 - once! But otherwise they were all much, much too high. This is making me freaky about eating anything but I know that's the other extreme. *sigh*

Got a date with the diabetes nurse at the surgery tomorrow. Wouldn't be surprised if she slapped me on metformin straight away!
