Hi my name is Roz,

I was diagnosed type 2 about 13yrs ago but have only taken this disease seriously & started taking medication & my BSL's since January this year when my health took a turn for the worst and had a heart attack plus many other problems which I nearly lost my life!.
I'm now on Metformin 1g a day, Lantus 90 units a day & Novorapid 30 units at tea time & 10 units at breakfast & lunch, my question is for the last 2/3 months Ive started to feel lethargic & all my muscles ache, I have also put on 20+ kilo in the last 5 months, has anyone else had these symptoms?
Also, I have had a few hypos in the last 3 weeks (2.1/3.0) & for the past 3 days my sugars have been between 11-26mml which has seen me go to the emergency & get hooked up to a drip due to dehydration, 1 Doctor suggested I could be insulin resistant & another said that I'm on too much insulin, is anyone else on large amounts & do you have any side effects?
I've had enough of feeling like this! I have 4 kids (4-16) & I want to be able to have the energy to run around after them instead of sitting or laying down coz I'm just to weak & having shortness of breathe, also gave up smoking 6 months ago & I thought that you were suppose to feel healthier, but instead I feel as if I'm going down hill, my doctor has said that I just have to keep up the insulin but I'm trying to loose the weight I've gained, but instead I'm putting it on, I feel like stopping the insulin coz since I've been on it I'm having nothing but health issues!
Has anyone got any ideas as to what to do or any advice, all comments are defiantly appreciated

I wouldn't stop your insulin, you may get worse health.
you can speak to your Dr about reducing your carbs and therefore your novorapid, he may suggest you keep eating the same amount of protein and fat and lots of non starch veg.
ask your Dr about doing a 'miss a meal' Basal test and give him the results, most would suggest you get your basal right first

Evidence is inconclusive for an ideal amount of total fat intake for people with diabetes;
therefore, goals should be individualized; fat quality appears to be far more important than quantity.
In people with type 2 diabetes, a Mediterranean-style, MUFA-rich eating pattern may benefit
glycemic control and CVD risk factors and can therefore be recommended as an effective alternative to a lower-fat, higher-carbohydrate eating pattern.

Thanks Jack, I'll defiantly look at these websites
