I am planning a holiday to Australia and would like some advice on how best to manage my diabetes during the long flight and time zone changes, can anyone help please? I am a Type 2 diabetic on insulin, Novarapid 3 times daily and insulin glargin once plus metformin, 2 twice daily.

  • Flights often cross time zones. If you treat your diabetes with medication or insulin, it’s important you check with your diabetes care team. If you need to make any changes to your regime be mindful that a hot or cold climate may affect how your insulin and blood glucose monitor work.
Have you been to Australia before? I love it there and have been several times. The flight is long but there is usually a stopover where you can stretch your legs and relax for a bit.
