Hi all
I've had type 2 for 3 years and have had good control with my tests but these last few weeks my morning readings have shot up from around 6 to 9 and over and I just don't understand why. I'm not doing anything different than I've done for past 3 years. Have spoken to my Dr who has increased my Metform from 2 x 500gm a day to 3 a day but this hasnt really made much difference. Starting to get paranoid. Testing 3 times a day - just hope they don't stop my test strips!

Hiya AnnieA, is it possible you have been under the weather? sometimes this can cause a spike in BS readings, or the effect of the dawn phenomnem kicking in when glucose is released to waken you up for the day? the changes in you're morning readings after being consistant will be a shock, its normal to want to monitor these and keep eye on yourself n things. Try not to worry and take care of yourself as you are doing, you're doing all the right things. Let us all know how you go on please. Anna.x

Hi Annie and welcome to the forum I know you have had diabetes for three years so are experienced in looking after yourself, but I thought you might be interested to have a look at this information. This was written by our friends Ken and Sue, former monitors, and is given to new members to the forum. I see Anna has already answered your question.
