I carry my nova rapid and my test meter always in a bum bag on my body and keep all my spare cartridges in the fridge
But what I need to know is if it's ok to carry my lantus pen around like this as well, next week I will be in UK and with my work and won't be 100% sure what time I will be getting back to hotel every night so would like to carry it with me
We've got hot weather forecasted for the Uk at the weekend .... 28C is expected for the south. I have always kept Lantus and Levemir pens in my hallway where its not as hot as elsewhere in the house but if you want to carry the pens on you, .. play safe and either get a frio bag or put them in a small plastic bag and then wrap them up in a cold flannel and then put that into another small plastic bag. Pens should be ok doing that I should think.....
Hi ...
The rear of my home faces 'north' kitchen never gets sun in it "all day" ...
So I keep my pencil case in the coolest cupboard facing the north wall.
If carrying on me in person I put the case in my handbag for the most minimum
of time needed when out and about.
I do have 2 frio wallets to use if travelling out in warmer weather, these are easy to
use and VERY effective at keeping insulin pen and a cartridge cool during a day out.
My daughter also has a small cool bag that I can place in the fridge and chill for a
quick cool factor to use also.
A cooled flannel pre-cooled in the fridge would work well in your bum bag.
As iHs says wrapped around your pens then place into a suitable plastic bag then place
into your bum bag worth a try if just out for "few" hours.
If out most of the day - then to be safe try a frio wallet these come in various sizes and can be
bought VAT free if diabetic insulin dependent.
All you would have to do is soak it in your sink let the crystals swell - dry off excess water
with handtowel , then put your pens and spare cartridge in the wallet.
You will be good to go all day with them kept cool well all day whilst out at work.
Hope this helps?
Anna.

Oh dear - this will need clarifying by contacting Novo nordisk Helpline [tel 0845 600 5055]
As they are the company that actually makes both novorapid/levemir insulins .
As this 'is' certainly a confusing point
Please let us know - what they advise too .
