Hello Anna
Well I can say it was a grueller, but I have now regained the ability to walk again and most of my blisters have gone although it does look like I am going to lose a nail.
The weather was awful for the first 30miles but it faired up for the last 10, so at least I could change into dry gear.
I felt very good all through the day and I kept on testing throughout, I had increased carbs the night before but on the day my figures where good, highest being 6.8 and lowest at the end was 4.9. I took fruit, malt loaf with cheddar to snack on during the walk, but there is plenty of fruit and fluids at the checkpoints and I made full use of them.
My time was 12hours and 49 minutes to complete the 40 miles, but I did have to wait over 2hours for a friends daughter who was underprepared and had to give up after 26miles, she was suffering early stages of hypothermia, luckily she was picked up by a paramedic and we where all glad to hear she had recovered by the time we finished.
I have to say I am nutty enough to go for my 4th attempt next year and I have already been nominated as Team co-ordinator again, only because the rest can't be bothered with the organising.
Vic.
