Ketone testing

Do type 2 on insulin need to test for ketones?
 
I asked my doctor this the other day and got told that type 2's don't need to test for it as its very rare for them to be affected by diabetic ketoacidosis. Only type 1's could be affected by it.
 
ask dr.. I think anyone on insulin should check for ketones as needed.
If it was me..I'd follow T1 proceedures
