Last week I was rushed to A&E with severe pain in my right hand side and under my ribcage, after 4 ECG's (which were fine) it was thought it was my gallbladder. I was sent for a CT scan and and Ultrasound scan, the results said that my right kidney was smaller than my left, and my gallbladder was swollen which showed higher level of normal, meaning slight infection, now I wasn't told if smaller kidney was something I was born with or if this is something that is happening due to my diabetes. I also had a urine test which showed +1 blood and protein. Nothing has been explained to me, and I was sent home, told to take another urine sample to my GP and if still showing blood/protein then they'll put me on antibiotics. I still have the pain but taking paracetamol which takes the edge off but the ache is still there.

So does anyone have any suggestions on what is going on please, tried to get a GP appointment and nothing available till end of June.

Thanks

Ps. I've been type 1 for nearly 52 years.

I'm sorry you've had such a rough time, and are still in pain. We aren't allowed to diagnose on the forum @sharonlmartin (quite rightly as we're not medically trained. Do you have online access to your medical notes from the gp, where you could see the letter from A&E?

In your position, I'd take a urine sample to your drs tomorrow and explain what's happened, and that you were told by A&E to take a sample to your drs and they would test it for blood/infection. A nurse will do this without a drs appointment. If you've got an infection, you don't want to leave it for a month. Take care.
