I am a very long term T2.
One of the complications of Diabetes is kidney problems. I successfully control my BGs with pills and a strict low carb diet but recently the medics found I had a high potassium reading which is indicative of kidney problems. I have been put on a low potassium diet but this, with the low carb diet makes eating very difficult and the variations of what I can eat and drink are few and far between. A further complication is that I have had to stop Ramipril which is for blood pressure as this is not good for potassium readings.
Make sure your team check your kidney function regularly. It's not funny.

Kentishman,

Hope the low-potassium diet works out for you and isn't to restrictive.

Hi Kentishman
I am sorry to read this, It must of been a blow to hear that your kidneys are not working as well nowadays and hopefully you will stall the damage now you have come off of the ramipril. I know high blood pressure puts a lot of stress on the kidneys so try to keep this controlled too.
