:?: Good evening,
I have just joined the site and feel ' soooo' relieved to be able to talk to others in the same situation and give much thanks !! My daughter is 8 and is feeling confident to try injecting her insulin but her pen ( novo nordisk) is too awkward in design for her to use comfortably. Can anyone recommend a new pen and do I have to get it through her consultant or G.P ?

Hi and welcome to the site.

My kids both use the Novopen Junior. They both find them fairly easy to use and normally inject in the arms and thighs.

leggott.

When my daughter was on pens she also used novopen junior and she had no problems injecting into her thigh. She was 7 then and has only just turned 8 today but is now pumping.
Good luck

hiya

my son too was on the novo pen junior but we were also given a pen mate, Dylan found he ouldnt lower the needle into his own leg but the pen mate was an attachment that went on the pen and was spring loaded so all he did was push a button and it would spring into his leg arm etc. we found it an enormous help to aid him to begin with if ur daughter can manage without it then great but if not its a great litll edevice to ask about

Hi, my son uses Apidra insulin via a solostar pen, it is easy to dial the right amount of insulin and inject with one hand while holding the skin with the other. He has been using this since he was 8 and is now 12
