Lack of low carb food in Hospital

I dread being admitted as an emergency now high carb breakfasts are usually the only option and even the other meals would fail to provide enough protein and fats.
I struggle to stay low carb with a sweet tooth and carb cravings and I know a single day of eating such food would risk me falling off the wagon for weeks, until the dreaded metformin gets pushed again.
At least when I can plan ahead I have a stock of food I used to take on long train journeys to hand ready for any time away from home (train food trollies are the other area of low-carb desert).

I agree with everyone- it is disappointing that they don't serve low carb options- what about a couple of boiled eggs for example- easy to prepare in advance and can be eaten cold. That is my current plan if I have another planned hospital stay. I would seriously try not to eat breakfast with the options people have had- hopefully not a problem as I don't eat it usually anyway. I think that a high carb meal may make it so hard to go low carb again so I sympathise.

I remember before Medicare (1984), that the food in Queensland public hospitals was of better quality for the most part. I can't comment on diabetic diets but the normal food served was ok.

The only time I did not like the food was on a Friday in Ipswich hospital when it was steamed mullet, mashed potatoes and choko, just a insipid mess on a plate. I got Chinese takeaways brought in from Jimmy Ah Wah's just down the road.
