Laryngitis and type 2 diabetes

Thanks for that bit of advice. Struggle eating salads but willing to try and eat more.

Hello annie012 This is my first post, so hello to anyone reading this. Apologies if my first post is a tad long. - I know you haven't been online for over 9 weeks, but just wanted to say when I read your post re laryngitis, I was taken aback by our similarities. I too am 63 yrs old and have type ll diabetes. I take Metformin 500g x twice daily. Gliclazide 80mg x twice daily. Amitriptyline 20mg at night. Also, a whole host of other meds. I have had laryngitis for 8 weeks. I at first had a cough, and was generally unwell. My doctor said I had a chest infection. Then after a course of antibiotics, the cough subsided. I've taken every conceivable, over the counter med, but nothing works for laryngitis. I've tried lukewarm, salt gargles. I've been to my doctor's several times and had 2 courses of antibiotics. I never go to my doctor, unless I'm truly ill. All these lozenges and the like seem to be filled with sugar. When I saw my practice nurse and she heard my croaky voice, I told her of my woes. She said "Metformin?" but I wasn't listening until I got home, then recalled her saying it. So I do think there is a connection with Metformin. Trying to get a doctor's appointment here though in Scotland, is nigh on impossible, but I'll persevere. Anyway, I hope you're well and laryngitis free. Regards.
