I do not have diabetes
Have just collected blood test results and I am now 38 mmol. Was diagnosed at 44.

After the health scare during the last three weeks, I delayed collecting them, thinking something else was bound to go wrong.

Getting the all-clear from my biopsy yesterday, I had the strength to get my BS results earlier and I am very happy with them after being disappointed in February.

But, please, can any of you wise ones explain this comment on my result sheet 'New Method (Bio-Rad) for Alc analysis. Results are 10% lower than previous method)?.

Many thanks.

great and well done.

The bio-rad comment is interesting. they are a clinical product production company and have a new technique which if that is 10% lower then 42 is now 42-4.2=37.8 ~38 ... so the question is are the old numbers incorrect or are we all going to get a new normal range when using this diagnostic system.

I am confused by my results. Your numbers seem so high!! my surgery only told me yesterday that my HB1ac shows I am pre diabetic but my results are 6.1???? I am in the UK.

Different units.
There is a converter on the site. Yours are a percentage

If I'm correct the conversion from 38mmol is 5.6%.

Have a look at the HbA1c conversion chart.

between 42 and 48 is pre-diabetic

Thanks.

Been a tough couple of weeks.

Indeed it must have been, I know from experience and I only waited just over a week (right over Christmas ). Sadly for me, my results weren't good so I had 15 months of intensive treatment, immediately followed by my Type 2 diagnosis! (2 years clear now). I'm so glad and relieved for you, on top of which, your HbA1c is just tremendous.
