Leg Cramps and High Blood Glucose

Since my BG has been running on very high, I've been getting a lot of cramp in my left foot and leg. Worse at night, but still happens during the day. Have told GP and Registrar at the hospital but apart from saying that it was due to high BG levels they pretty much glossed over it. Anyone else experience this and if so any suggestions whilst BG is still high?
 
I used to have really bad leg cramps at night before I was diagnosed. Now my BG levels are much lower, the cramps have gone away. I do sympathise, because I know how painful they can be, but I think getting your BG levels down is probably the only answer. I did read on a web site somewhere that putting a bar of soap in your bed can prevent cramps. Sounds mad to me.
