legal requirements

I hope someone can answer this. My workplace had no first aid room and I'm currently taking my injections in less than hygienic toilets. Am I right in thinking there's a legal requirement for a dedicated first aid room. Approx 2000 people r employed with me.

Hi, I have no idea whether there is a legal requirement. If there is I've never heard if it. Let me ask you something though - when you are at home, where do you inject? I'm assuming you don't have a designated first aid room? What about when you're out and about? Or when you were first diagnoses and in hospital? I honestly can't see any need for a special room for injections. Maybe others will disagree? As long as the needles you are using are clean then this should be sufficient. Ok, there are some environments where I wouldn't be comfortable injecting, but...

agree with the above post but had a look to see what the legal requirements are

The minimum first-aid provision on any work site is:
■ a suitably stocked first-aid box (see Q4);
■ an appointed person to take charge of first-aid arrangements (see Q5);
■ information for employees about first-aid arrangements (see Q8)

and

Where there are large numbers of employees you
should consider providing:
■ first-aiders;
■ additional first-aid equipment;
■ a first-aid room

So I don't think there is any legal requirement.

No don't use toilets as they are filthy places, with 2000 employees I would assume your place of work will have a rest-room or canteen available, providing you wash your hands prior to injecting then these facilities should be just fine.

Folks!
although it's probably counter intuitive I suspect that in many places of employment, the toilets are the cleanest place. When I investigaged some place a number of years ago, the bacterial count in the toilets was much lower than that in the kitchen.
Nevertheless, injecting in the toilets is not very aesthetic. Do you have a union rep who can get the information specific to your circumstnces? Are you covered by disability law?
