Libre sensor adhesive

Hi!

So far have had no problems with sensor adhesive...have literally had to prise them off my arm...but my 3rd sensor adhesive is slowly unsticking from my skin. Only noticed it this evening and wondered if it might be due to a couple of night-time hypos + sitting out in the warm weather this afternoon. Not due to start next sensor til next weekend so wondered if someone might be able to recommend something. If I put a large plaster on will that affect the sensor...???

If you're in the UK, most chemists have Molnlycke Mepore 7 x 8 cm plasters behind the counter, so you need to ask for them, not on display. Omnicare do them for 17p, other chemists for 40p. I normally stick one on my libre, not so much from a sensor falling off point of view, more that it just smoothes out the edges, so it's less likely to get snagged. Haven't found it to make any difference to readings. Some people use rocktape, but I couldn't be bothered ordering stuff on the internet when the mepore works for me ok. Hope you're having fun with it - these little plastic discs have made my life a hell of a lot easier!

Hi Scott!

I will be off to the pharmacy first thing to ask them for some of these plasters...have found a tegaderm dressing but not sure if that would work.

I LOVE these little plastic discs!! I think my body was not happy with the first sensor (abnormally high blood sugars) but the difference in my control is staggering since the second sensor...I am most definitely on course to lower my hba1c if things continue like this which is the reason why I'm panicking about the sensor falling off.

Ppl at work have been gently teasing me about turning into "bionic woman" when they see the sensor and I think I scared a few tourists on the tube earlier when I grabbed hold of the overhead rail as it was standing room only....couldn't understand why everyone was suddenly taking an interest in me before realising that t-shirt sleeve had ridden up to reveal my sensor to all...momentarily felt embarrassed and then just thought oh well!

Do you find that if you have a hypo the sensor takes a long time playing catch up with your blood sugar reading?

It can do, but it's really just down to biology. The hypo treatment will take a bit of time to get from the stomach into the bloodstream, and then a bit more time to get from the bloodstream into the interstitial fluid between cells which is what the sensor is measuring. Because of that, a meter test will pick it up in the blood before the sensor will.

Haven't used it myself but I think a few people have used tegaderm.
