Long active and short active

Are you also dyslexic??
 
dyslexic yes just a little bit. The insulin that the doctor gave me instead of the Long active insulin was (lantus) it is a short active insulin I was thinking 18 units of this at night
With nothing to eat

Most nights I would have a hypo I was telling my doctor this waking up at 2/3 o'clock in the morning wondering why I'm like this eating enough to come out of the hypo then my sugar levels would be skyhigh in the morning because my hormones kicked in so Then I would give myself extra insulin to get my sugar levels down so I will be overdosing twice on short active insulin every day for 14 months

OK dyslexic. Now I understand..

I use Lantus Glargine.. The same stuff. IT IS a "long acting" basal insulin...

You will need to speak to a diabetes specialist regarding your insulin.. Explain you are dyslexic. Don't let them fob you off with pieces of paper..!
Get them to explain your medicine by spoken word..

I have a drummer in my band who is Dyslexic. He's a clever guy, but gets mixed up with anything written...

Right let's me start from the beginning... I am on Humalog for my food injections from day one.... Before the doctor gave me the wrong insulin I was on lantus for long active insulin... Then 2012 April the doctor prescribed the wrong insulin which was Apidra I took this of 14 months... In them 14 months I was in and out of hospital and he sent me for loads of tests to see if you could find the problem. August last year I went to see my diabetic nurse and she was shocked to see me on Apidra settle down she says to me. Then she give me a prescription for lantus the right one. But two months after August my diabetic nurse has put me on a new long Active insulin which is Levemir so now I'm on Humalog and Levemir

As I said on my profile I do not know if there was any long term damage as I'm losing weight over the years that I've been sick I was up at the hospital 12 weeks ago got my weight checked I was 68 KG and last week my weight was 58 KG that's put me a stone and a half under weight

Yes, I understand..

I feel the only way any "long term damage" because of the "wrong insulin" will be found out is in the future.?

The best you can do is control your diabetes from now, which will help you later..

Maybe to help your dyslexia you can take a cheap digital recorder, or use your phone recorder to take notes on what the nurse says?
This will help memory more than writing..

The weight loss is a concern which could be stress or because of the rapid highs & lows over the "14 months" using the wrong insulin??
If you have been running high on average? Then this could be the reason for the 10kg loss..?

You will need to talk to your nurse..
