Your "spot check" blood glucose reading was normal, but that's not your Hba1c, which is a measurement of what your blood glucose has been doing in the last 3 months or so. High HbA1c [above 7%, sorry Ican't remember the conversion to the new scale!] is diagnostic of diabetes, but there are people wjith slightly raised HbA1cs who are not diagnosed diabetic.. UTIs are common in diabetes, so it's a natural thing to check for.
However. If you are diabetic, surely it's better to know and do something to control it, ratther than go on in ignorance and develop serious complications.
