looking for some advice,my blood sugars over the last few weeks have been dropping to the low 3,s in the afternoon,i have not changed my diet or exercise routines and i seem to be unaware when this is happening, only because i check my bloods regularly did i notice,so if anybody can put me wise it would be appreciated
It would seem that your lunch-time ratios are wrong if this is happening a lot. Try reducing your insulin or increasing carbs to prevent your afternoon hypo's, record what you eat/inject and test every hour thereafter until you establish stable control. It could be that your background (basal) insulin may also need adjusting too, if in doubt keep a record of your daily injections and food and take along to your dsn to see if they can offer some practical advice.
Hi, Myles
I've just taken a bit from your previous post ast it might help people when replying. (Nigel was thinking you were using a different insulin regime)
i take 32 units of novomix in the morning 20 at teatime i take 1000mg of metformin in the morning 500mg at lunch and 1000mg at teatime,
It maybe that your morning dose of insulin needs a small adjustment but you should definitely check with your nurse or doc as they might want to vary your metformin.
I wonder have you have lost a bit of weight and became a bit more insulin sensitve?
hello, phoenix thanks for your reply i think you hit the nail on the head as i have lost about a stone in weight over the last 4 weeks, will go and see the nurse and she will probably reduce my insulin or metformin thanking you
