Hi
I have been told that i have diabetes type 2 last week. my bloods came back at a1c 100 mmol/mol and 11 percent with finger prick test at 13.5.
i have been put on glicazide 40mg twice a day. I have been reading a lot on a low carb lifestyle as this has helped a lot of people and think its the way i want to go, but i have also been told being on glicazide i need to eat carbs to make the meds work and also possibly put on weight. any advice please.
Many of our members have great success adopting a low carb lifestyle to control their T2 diabetes.
However, if you are on medication that can cause very low blood glucose levels, such as the gliclazide you are prescribed then you would need to be very cautious about a low carb diet. Unless, following discussion with your doctor you decide to try different medication, and the low carb way of eating .
