Low Carb and No 2's

Hi Everyone - thought it was about time I showed me face - or in this case it's the other end, but I'm not sure there's much difference....

I found for a while after going LC that my bowels, which had been plagued with IBS-D for around 12 years until I dumped the gluten and most carbs, went the other way. But I learned that not eating enough fat with the protein was the issue. When I upped the fats and made sure I was drinking enough water it eventually sorted itself.

I have found having kefir to be a help too - I am sure that getting the gut flora in better shape has a lot to do with it. My digestion was a right mess when I was having the carbs - and the Byetta didn't help either, but very gradually since dumping that and the carbs it has been improving, especially over the last year I have been on the higher nutritional healing diet.

Changing from one diet to another, especially if it is done relatively fast will obviously impact on the gut flora which will have to change - but that can take some time. With less carbs floating around, there will be less need for yeasts (which is why most people find that their Candida and fungal issues eventually go away on LC). That will then give the good guys more room to rebuild their population and help to improve digestion all round.
