Hi. I'm type 1 and live in the uk. I'm on omnipod 5 and freestyle libre 2 plus.
For 3 weeks now I've been doing healthy low carb high fat as I've put on weight since using this system. The first few days my numbers were good, I lost 5lbs in water weight I believe, and I'm feeling a lot better mentally, but I'm having trouble keeping them below 8 or 9 and sometimes higher during the day.
Apart from needing to contact my DSN in the new year, I'm hoping somebody could give me any ideas on adjustments etc?

when speak to dsn can try ask for referrel for dietician to help support. have look at https://www.uhsussex.nhs.uk/resources/low-and-very-low-carbohydrate-diets-in-type-1-diabetes/ take it you've already tried correctional dosage advice?

from above url said:
It is important to note that protein can also raise blood glucose, although not as much as carbohydrate. You may need to take a small dose of insulin to counteract the slower rise in blood glucose from protein.

dsn complaining i'm relatively low carb 80-90g lada to keep eye ketone buildup. ketones for me are relatively high frequently >2.

tagging @Antje77 lada, she eats low carb and can perhaps can assist, she is not a pump user or am I.

Not wishing to cross post . @Smithjoa what were your BS numbers like prior to you switching to a low carb diet? What was your diet like before switching and , when you say low carb , how many carbs per day are you now consuming ? Sorry for all the questions .

Hi @Smithjoa , and thanks for the tag @grantg ,

I usually eat low carb, but we can't really advise on adjustments.
How do you normally decide on adjusting your insulin?

For me, it doesn't really matter if i'm low or higher carb, I adjust my insulins depending on what I eat, and depending on the numbers I see. If I consistently see higher or lower numbers than I like, I adjust my basal (I'm on pens so not as easily adjusted as on a pump), if my baseline looks good but my numbers creep up after food I use corrections or adjust my mealtime bolus. On LC, it can take a while for the protein to hit, so sometimes I need some extra insulin a couple of hours after eating.

If you usually only adjust your doses after consulting your DSN, please do so now as well. You're not running very high so no need to experiment if you're not used to this.
I have never had an HCP telling me how to adjust or how much insulin to take so I'm used to figure it out myself, which may be completely different from your situation!
