people who act like they are the diabetic police!!!
Hi
On the advice of the diabetic nurse I tried a no carb meal, this was to give myself a rest from injecting now and again. However, before my breakfast my bg was 6.9 and then testing again before lunch they had shot up to 19.6. I only had a couple of rashers of bacon and an egg. I know that protein can cause a rise but surely not by this much and I walked to the shop and was rushing around most of the morning. Can anyone shed some light on this please.

Hi

No I'm not on any other medication, the only thing I can think of was that I had a herbal tea but drink these all the time without any effect usually.

Hi Avi,

The rise in BG could be down to a combination of things but I am sure the proximate casue will be down to your body coverting the protein in your breakfast to glucose. I would normally inject 2-3 units of Humulin S with my breakfast of bacon & eggs.

Best of luck,
Fletch.
