Hi,
I recently underwent a Laminectomy op to sort out a disc in my Back.
Its about 3 weeks ago, and im still having a bit of a problem with pain in my leg. Have been cleared to drive again, and walking pretty well
Just wonder if anyone on the forum has had something similar done, and how long it took to get over the problems completely ?

Can't help with your questions, but wanted to say I'm sorry to hear you have been going through this, I had noticed you weren't about as much !

I hope the pain clears up and your back is fighting fit again soon

Thanks for the wishes.
Came out of the Blue, I think I overdid rowing at the gym, and the normal Physio and traction did not sort it out, so op was the last resort.
Did not like the idea, but excellent Neurosurgeon, and all is going well.
Unfortunately told NO GYM till end November, but otherwise I can do most other things.
Was told up to 6 months to fully recover, hence the question.

I had the op in the 1980's. When they opened my up they discovered the protruding disc had burst, with bits of it clinging to my sciatic nerve. I told them it bloody hurt!! In those days we stayed in hospital a week or even longer after a major op like that. I was taken each day to the hydro-therapy pool, even before the stitches were out. I was allowed to swim up and down as I wished, no specific exercises. I think this did the trick because I never had any after effects at all. I drive an automatic so had no trouble with that. I was as right as rain very quickly. No leg pains afterwards, nor since. In fact, no problems at all since, other than a bit of backache when I garden for too long.

Good luck with your recovery. I hope you do as well as I did.

PS I did get signed off work for 3 months.

Never experienced it myself Randburg,
but I've heard it's painful.
Poor you, I hope the pain soon subsides.

As far as I'm aware, providing you are not taking
painkillers, you can drive 2- 3 weeks after the op.

Go easy on yourself.

Best wishes to you.
