i have been diabetic for 22 years this year but have only recently worn a medic alert of any discription i have now been told that i shouldnt wear it whilst on duty with st john ambulance does any body know where i actually stand with being allowed to continue wearing it or not
Hi sammybabe.
Eh ?? What raeson did they give you ? For not wearing it whilst on duty? !!!
I find this quite contradicting as surely as a responsible adult training/trained? with st john ambulance you should be ALLOWED to advocate the importance of diabetic awareness and wear such to alert others.
At the hospital I get 'praised' for wearing mine! They even say they WISHED others would wear these to prewarn the medics and save precious time with lack of awareness.

Hmmm. Sounds a bit picking reason to me!
There is one way round this - IF you was to wear a necklace tucked into your top ?
Shouldnt surely be any issue then!

What about all the medics that wear a loose watch then !???
I have actually seen this many many times with various HCP's .
My best one was, a bloke taking blood samples was sat 'picking his nose' then got up, and just carried on doing the job!
Unbelievable eh.....!!!!
