I have been to my doctors this morning to receive my fasting blood test results and to review my medication, although he says I have done really well.... First reading 16.1 - today 10.5 fasting test result. HbA1C was 123 and today is 70.
Now I know the readings are still very high, so my Metformin has been doubled to 100mg each morning and evening and I hope that this will bring my blood sugar levels down by around half.
I brought my own meter and the doctor is reluctant to talk about this with me, but this has taught me so far that all Wheat based products are not good for me. I am trying the Soya and Linseed loaf currently to see if that is OK as I am really beginning to miss a little bit of bread now and then.
For any of you out there that have a sweet tooth I can tell you that Aldi's do really lovely sugar free boiled sweets - well worth a try, Sainsburys sell lovely sugar free marshmallows and if any of you know of any good sugar free chocolate please let me know, I don't eat chocolate very often maybe once every two months but really missing it right now.

Thank you to all of you it really is good to know there is somewhere to ask a question or even just to give an update.

Well done, great to hear your levels are coming down. Metformin has several benefits, but it doesn't usually reduce BGs by very much. For T2s, diet does most of that. You are on the right track, keep it up

I like the Aldi, or LIdl, 85% chocolate, thankfully available in most places worldwide(ish)

Green&Black do av nice 85% chocolate and I also like the Lindt Almond and Orange dark chocolate. Have you tried Lidl's high protein rolls - they are 8.5g each and are HUGE

Hi Daphne 917.Do u just allow yourself the odd sauare of dark choc? And in my local Lidl here in Ireland I couldnt find said 0rotein rolls .I have seen triangular rolls before and Im wondering if thats them or are there more than 1 type of triangular rolls? Thanks

I miss bread too but found a recipe for a seed bread which is low carb .It is lovely and dense and cuts really thinly .I will try post a link !
