Medtronic 780g with simplera sync

So, a couple of weeks ago, my 780g pump arrived, and luckily, I'm one of the first few batches that have been coming out with the new simplera sync cgm

i have worn the simplera for a few days so i could compare it alongside the Dexcom, and I have to say the readings have been very close in fact i would say the simplera has been slightly closer to my glucose meter, granted it is only the first sensor.

i had my training yesterday and went live on the pump, having copied most settings from my tslim so my control the last 24hours has been very similar

hopefully, tomorrow, should be able to go into smart guard, which on paper should be able to give tighter control than the tandem, however unlike the tandem the medtronic learns patterns over time, so im hoping in a couple of weeks, my control will be better

more impressive, i have a glow in the dark skin and green alien keypad stickers

The hairy black thing is my foot warmer for the cooler nights, unfortunately it has a fault, it uses more of the bed than I do. And no matter where I place it, it always seems to move pushing me closer to the edge
 
Very jealous of the simplera, hoping one day soon I'll get it but until then I'll rock my Guardian 4. Good luck to you, before SmartGuard it can be tough but once it learns about you I find it pretty great!

Smartguard just turned on wasn’t too bad until then as I copied my profiles from the tandem

I’m liking the simplera, don’t hold your breath for it yet though the pumps need updating for it, and they need to build up production for it, which is why only new pump users are getting it at the moment

But I think you will be pleased when you do get it
 
Hi @searley, Can I ask you a question about the simplera? I’m trying to choose between four, yes four hcl pumps: I know I’m lucky, but I’m feeling a tad lost and looking for user information.
Can you get a direct reading from the simplera via an app or do you need to go to it via the Medtronic?
I gather there’s an Accuchek meter that will transmit to Medtronic for calibration, which sounds great. Just wondering if there are any other ways to track readings?
At the moment I’m in that happy but troubled state of delight an offer’s been given but lost in the choices maze.

Love that case! Where did you find it? Mine is plain black.

I’m excited about sympleria. I guess it’ll be a while before it’s available in the US. I’m loving my 780 nonetheless. Please post updates on your experiences with it.

It's been hinted that I won't qualify for a Simplera because I'm a fairly recent recipient of the 780G + Guardian Sensor (I love the pump but hate the sensor). I don't understand the whys and wherefores of this but apparently I must have signed up to an arrangement to continue to use the Guardian 4 for a lot longer. Yuk. Really worried and angry.

its a shame you got the wrong answer though
the 780g uses simpera sync, not simplera, so you do NOT use the simplera app

you actually use the Medtronic minimed app, which show the cgm data, and pump details
 
this was one of my concerns, so i made sure i would get the simplera before i ordered the pump

thereis a couple of issues

1, pump upgrade needed to use simplera
2, the sensor is so new, and they dont yet have mass production to cover the number of people that would want it, so there is a soft rollout to new pump users until production is increases
 
the use of the accuchek is optional, you can use any meter to calibrate 'if required' as you can manually enter the BG reading into the pump, but the accuchek is better than the meter the GP gave me, and now he has no choice but to prescribe the accuchek strips as the hospital have asked them to

the main bg tracking is obviously done via the simplera which is suitable for most people, most of the time - i use nightscout for my readings, and you have the medtronic carelink website that will run reports from the cgm, and also shows carb entries etc

the accuchek is also compatible with the mysugr app

ypsomed

the medtronic gives better control than the tandem, because of the way corrections work, the pump is more aggressive and has lower targets (which are adjustable)

the ypsomed shoukd be good so long as you have an android phone AND your hospital gives you the camAPS app (mine dont) not much good without camAPS

tandem and medtronic have the biggest insulin supply if that is a consideration. ypsomed the smallest

omnipod has the advantage of being tubeless, BUT you in the UK you have to carry the PDM with you, which is mobile phone sized


for me the move from tandem to medtronic was the right one
