Medtronic V Animas pump

I've just posted about this and I'm having so many problems with Medtronic with delivering the supplies and as a result I'm thinking of changing to Animas. But the Medtronic pump itself is good and I've used CGM with it too but the delivery has been a real problem.

I have a Vibe, and I love it, it is so easy to use, when I ordered my first set of supply's I think it took a few days to arrive, when my hospital person ordered them, she said that it could take a week or so. But that was not the case, Animas even called to check that they had the right address for delivery as this was my first order. I don't use the cgm feature, but Engineer88, should be on later so ask her as she does. Although I like the fact that Dexcom4, will transmit to the pump, so you don't need another monitor to use it.
 
I really like the Animas Vibe so far but the biggest thing I wish it had was the remote, so I could wear it somewhere functional and discreet, and leave it there. Instead, the need to fish it out all the time means that my way of wearing it is neither discreet nor that functional. But I need to continue to experiment with different ways of wearing it.

It's just a drag it doesn't have a remote. The Medtronic has a remote, right? And is it a fully functional remote? Because if the remote can't access the wizards or use the other features that you are going to use on a daily basis, that's basically a waste of time.

Just to add - I do use the Dexcom G4 CGM and I am very pleased by the fact that you don't need to wear a separate receiver.

Hi guys, I would def recommend Animas to anyone. Ive never experienced a remote and it doesnt bother me 'fishing' out my pump to deliver insulin. with regards to CGM its great and I dont find it too expensive to run Largely accurate other than near the end of sensor life (my usual reason for changing after upto 21-28 days) As the others have said using the Vibe as the reciever makes it a very functional piece of kit.

I didnt even look at any other pumps when I asked for this. Waterproof and CGM= win.
 
Yes the waterproof feature is great. You can actually swim while wearing it. For extended periods of time even. With all pumps you can remove them for a quick shower or swim (or romantic interlude), but with the Vibe you could splash around in the sea all morning when on holiday, for example. And if you are a bloke and it can disappear into baggy swim trunks.

I have a Dexcom G4 already, so does the Animas Vibe automatically have the feature of a CGM, does it come with it. Or is it like the medtronic where
it costs alot extra to have the CGM feature !
 
There is no extra cost if you already have the G4 (as the G4 includes the transmitter) . If you didn't already have the G4 you would need to buy a £500 starter pack for the Vibe which includes a transmitter and some sensors. On an ongoing basis the Vibe has the same ongoing CGM costs as using the Dexcom G4 receiver does.

Nope your good to go! good choice

You might need to get your pump rep to set you up and you can buy your supplys direct from animas with a vat exe,ption form making it £500 start up as Spiker said.

Then its ongoing sensors and animas is the cheapest place around apparently
