Mental breakdowns

That sounds really horrible for you! As a diabetic of 13 years, my control isn't the best - the fact that your bs seems to be below 9 a fair amount of the time is a good sign especially since you haven't been diagnosed that long... keep positive and ask for the help you need to keep it in check. Also, remember, whilst it is important to have a fairly strict diet, dependant on your medication, I'm sure the odd treat would be fine - speak to a diabetes nurse or dietitian Always up for a chat if you want, I'm a t1 also in secondary school x Have experienced similar breakdowns in the past, does your local diabetes centre have a psychologist? If they do it's really worth talking to them - it's not like counselling, more of an outlet for emotions, I found that it really helped. If you do want to talk email is bethskyerobinson@gmail.com

Hi, I'm about the same age as you are! I guess we go through the same sort of thing.
When you are at school, do you tell your classmates about your diabetes/do they know about it?
I haven't told people, so if they see me blood test, they get really surprised.
Do you think I should have told them when I was first diagnosed?
This is something I have been wondering about for a while.

I am 17 and I can say I've been through the exact same when I was in middle and high school, it's hard I know and people don't understand but don't let it get to you, I used to think why me? Why do I have this horrible condition well I now look at it as it's made me a better person it's made me live life to the full because you don't know what next is going to be thrown at you next and it's made me appreciate what life I have, so what I'm trying to say is turn that frown upside down and if you ever need a chat don't be shy to send me a message, I know it's hard and I still struggle but always look on the bright side, keep smiling and don't let your friends get you down and if they do there not your friends

Regards
