Well I don't know about Metfartin giving people loo issues ... I've just sampled a couple of low carb sweets and an Atkins bar from the Low Carb Megastore and I'd only just finished reading the warning on the sweets packet which said "Do not eat too many as these sweets may have a laxative effect on some people".

Laxative effect????? I've missed most of Deal or No Deal, Heartbeat and Emmerdale. Metfartin is a doddle compared to the effects of these so called 'safe for diabetics sweets'.

If anyone suffers from constipation they can have the lot for half price!

Dear Gooooooooooooooddd ... here I go agaaaaaaaaaaaaainnn ...

Ha Ha x a million GraceK !

You have just made me choke on my deep fried chicken and scotch lunch !

Best place for those sweets is the lucky old bin !

Hee hee chippers! All quiet on the Western front today. I was going to chuck em in the bin but as they work far better and faster than Sennakot, Ex-lax, Dulcolax I might just keep in the medicine cabinet.

Also if I get any visitors I don't really like, I can offer them round.

Sweet ! GraceK !!!!!!!!

Pity your poor visitors ! I don't have problems in THAT department yet ! re - exlax etc.

Only with regard to red wine and the dreaded metformin.

You sound good GraceK, all the very best to you, be happy !

I eat the Atkins bars, choc coconut is my fab. The bars and low carb stuff (polyols) don't have that effect on me, I seem to handle them ok, I don't eat lots in one go though, just for treats.

I only ate two banana twist sweets and one chocolate almond atkins bar. Too bloody scared now to even look at the rest of them.

That does not appear to be a lot, what times are you eating these? I have had 1 choc coconut bar today split into 3 a bit mid morning, a bit after lunch and a bit after dinner.

I can eat more carbs and sugar free stuff around midday easier than morning or evening, play with the times you eat them. I can also eat thortons diabetic chocs without issues too, unlike some on here.

I ate the whole bar in about 15 mins at mid afternoon I think. Did I eat too much at once do you think? It was a bit heavy going but it did say it was a 'light meal/snack' so I thought I'd better eat it all.

Technically no problem eating it all ion one go, they say you should have a max of 20g polyols a day if you want to avoid the loo trips.

I sometimes have a whole bar after lunch without problems, just split it to have something sweet throughout the day. I never snack out of meal times so what ever I eat its in one go for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so always 3 meals, no snacking I between. This works for me.

GraceK, I'm sitting here crying my eyes out listening to Il Divo, the Italian man-band, having a few VAT's and reading the forums.
The Amazing Grace track, oh just realised GraceK, you may well be amazing ! Not for me to say though eh ?

Back on track ! It's been 15 days since I stopped Metfartin, levels are great, not a s****ng difference !

I certainly do not miss the dreaded effect with a decent red !

Keep well my graceful friend !

Actually Roy, one of my online nics is AmazinGracee Some of my friends started calling me that because of my spiritual beliefs. I love the song Amazing Grace with all it's depth of meaning and if you haven't heard it sung in Native American Cherokee you aint heard nothing yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvYIjFtPQEk

Cry your heart out! It's good for the soul ...

Just listened GraceK, well done, it was an experience !

Not sure I want to CRY my heart out, I'm 62 ( fit as a butchers dog ! ),as this heart of mine( borrowed at Papworth ) is only 18 ( for me anyway ! )

BUT YES, I trully understand what you are saying ! I LOVE all music that moves me to tears of Joy !

As you get older you start to understand what is right and wrong, unfortunately we are not always right or wrong !

OK AmazinGracee, catch you on the flip !

Roy
