Metformin >>> does anyone have an authoratitive definition of "short acting"?

A poster in an earlier thread suggests, "reaching its peak in about an hour and lasting about 4 to 5 hours".

Upon searching Google (metformin +"short acting"), I cannot find any confirmation of this suggested definition.

Any ideas, please?
