Hi All

Was diagnosed with Type 2 some 18 months ago and put on Metformin (dosage 2500mg per day) tablets x2 in the morning x1 lunchtime and x2 in the evening. Cholesterol is 3.5 - HbA1c reading is 6.2 - blood glucose averages 4.8

Returned from the doc yesterday after being called in for a review of my treatment and was a bit taken a back when the doctor increased my doseage to 3000mg per day (6 tabs). His reasoning was that my HbA1c was too high.

Im a bit concerned that my dose is too high - should I go back to the doctors and question the increase?

Thanks

Until you are totally in control of your condition, you must follow your doctor's direction. When you know what you are doing, You may be able to make adjustments yourself.
Read the leaflet with your tablets. It will tell you about doses.

Hi Steve

You need a detailed anwser to this question. But I'm not the one to give it. Some one will though.
They must all be out on the town.

You really need to ask the doctor about this. He maybe has a set range for Hba1c's that he works to. I know that my lab ranges are 4.3 to 6.0 so he is maybe trying to get it down to within range. Did you get a print out of your blood tests?

The maximum dosage of Metformin is three gms per day so you are therefore now on the max.dosage.
