I have Weetabix every day but that precedes a three mile walk. What I won't do to have my Weetabix eh? I went on a course for type 2 diabetics. It wasn't a DESMOND but it did start with a D. The reason is that we have a local charity that does most things to do with diabetes. It was still pushing the Healthy Eating Plate and you could tell they weren't too happy about that.
As to eating cabbage, yes if it makes you feel better but you could go to your supermarket and explore the fresh meat aisle or take a knife, fork and bib and raid the deli. All of the fresh veg department is available. All you have to avoid are the bread and cakes and the aisle with pizzas in. Some tinned meats have zero carbs and go well with salads. Stir fries with any meat of your choice and a Blue Dragon Sauce (Oyster and spring onion is my favourite). Even Original Recipe KFC is nearly zero carbs, not a lot of people know that.
NEVER eat anything with a strange name. Dippers, nuggets, fingers, cakes, kievs, goujon. They are not usually chicken or fish as they pretend to be.
I even eat chips but no more than I can pick up with one hand.
Find new foods and enjoy them.
