It seems that most T2's are put onto Metformin tablets when they are diagnosed and many people have expected it to lower their BS levels and were disappointed when it didn't. Replies often have said that Metformin does not have much effect on BS levels so I was wondering what are the benefits of it for diabetes
I understand that Metformin reduces insulin resistance, appetite, and the production of glucose from the liver, but all to a small extent. It isn't meant to be a cure, just an aid which must be combined with diet and exercise. Other than that I have no idea how it helps! I haven't been prescribed it so have no personal evidence.
