Hey nmb264,
I'm 9 weeks 6 days along and my A1C has also been around 7%. I've been dealing with more highs and swings than I was expecting, but so far things are going as they should. My basal rates started to drop a bit around week 7, but not as much as I was expecting, and I had to increase them again last week.
I found the first 6 weeks extremely stressful, but now I feel a bit more used to everything so I'm trying not to freak out to much when I'm swinging or going high. Regular patterns have been practically non-existent for me except for a couple of days at a time.
A lot of people drink/smoke/use recreational drugs for weeks without realizing they're pregnant, and while not ideal, the majority of those babies are born healthy. It's hard not to feel guilty or stress about it, but try to let go of what's done. I've been trying to take the attitude that no matter how hard I try, swings and high glucose will happen, so when it happens, correct and move on.
