I use the MiniMed Mobile App which automatically connects to the pump and uploads all of my data to CareLink which my diabetes team can view. I’ve never needed to use a laptop to upload my data so personally wouldn’t buy one as long as your current phone is compatible with the app.

The only difference I am aware of between Guardian 3 and Guardian 4 is that with the 4 you don't have to calibrate the sensor with a finger prick blood test, with Guardian 3 you had to give a finger prick test after the 2-hour warm-up period, every 6 hours for the next 12 hours (I think) and then 12 hourly after that. Whilst it wasn't inconvenient it's also nice not having to be forced to do a finger prick, although I am in the habit of doing them now and still do a test every so often to check the sensor is working as expected, especially when low/high.

The beauty of the 780g and Guardian 4 is you can hybrid-closed loop them so the systems work together to manage your blood sugars automatically through smart guard. Your blood sugar is updated every 5 minutes and that lets your pump know how much if any insulin to give as a basal as well as correcting your blood sugar if you're starting to drift high or cutting off insulin if you're dropping low. The only thing you really have to do is input how many carbs you are eating if any for food. Takes away a lot of the stresses of having to manage your blood sugars constantly. It's surprising how much my basal can vary from one day to the next.
