Missed Insulin dose

Hi I have been on Insulin for 3 months and take 44 units of Lantus at 10pm every night as well as my tablet medication I suffer from Anxiety and forgot my evening dose on Saturday and only remembered Sunday afternoon I checked my blood sugars and they were 8.6 and took my insulin again Sunday evening, what should I have done and does it matter if I miss my nightly dose?
 
Hi. I did the same and my diabetic nurse told me not to panic and gave me a couple of alternatives. Take it now but this would mean that it might be at an inconvenient time thereafter. She suggested I just take it the following day as usual. We all have occasional blips, and this is one. It didn't seem to leave any lasting effect on me.
