I've been getting more frequent and severe colds ever since changing to LCHF and starting metformin..got one that lasted 3 weeks and just two weeks later, I feel my throat acting up again. I don't know if it's the metformin or the big sudden drop in BG since starting LCHF and met that's messing up my immune system. Just hope this isn't something else more serious..any thoughts?
One consolation it is known that the older you get the less likely you are to have colds as over time we would probably have had every one of the 200 cold viruses so we are immune to them. I am 78 and I have not had a cold in years so maybe it is right
I do not think that LCHF or Metformin would lower your immunity maybe you should check with your GP for other reasons

I struggle with a similar problem. T2, metformin and as low as possible on LCHF - which invariably means that I have cut out most good sources of vitamin C - which is readily found in oranges, most citrus and juicy fruits and even potatoes. Part of what I need to do requires a couple of lemons every day - low Glycemic load but enough vit c to keep colds at bay. (also good for digestion, fat burning and helping to get down all of that water too.
