Interesting, and so nice to read an article I can understand without too many long scientific words!!
 
Sounds like the immunosuppressant barrier is the final hurdle.
No point curing T1 just to die of a common cold.
 
There was some news from JDRF mid last month about clinical trials for what was called a “gene editing” treatment to cure t1. It was called: ViaCyte and CRISPR and they were planning trials in Canada. It sounded like a better idea because it didn’t destroy the autoimmune system to reset things, but instead edited the problem areas. If it works and works reliably is unknown. But I too don’t wish to cure my own diabetes and then die from the common cold.
