Hello, i have been diabetic since katrina hit in the usa..my question is, if you want to eat more ice cream, can you just use more insulin. Ice cream or sweets.. I use humalin 70/30.. And i am from usa, will soon be moving back to panama city, panama, where i am an ex pat.. Thanks ahead of time anthony t nowicki
your insulin is a fixed twice daily regime so you can't increase your insulin to cope with extra carby treats like ice cream.
If you would like more dietary flexibility you would need to go onto separate injections for basal blood sugars and meal blood sugars. This will move you to at least 5 jags a day. This tends to be a bit more expensive but does allow more meal flexibililty and more likelihood of good blood sugar control.
