Some of my D .co.uk friends may have figured out by now that I have a grasshopper brain.
I had another thought this morning as I went out shopping on my own with 2 1/2 year old Joshua for the first time. Of course I've shopped with him many times, but always with backup. Toeday I braved going to the supermarket alone for the firest time with a very active small boy.. Everything wentr perfectly. We got everything on the list and coped withthe car seat and our very narrow drive.
I had a pound coin in my pocket for the trolley and put my purse in my backpack with the baby-wipes and the shopping bags. thus hands free copingwith the car seat. [That buckle is meant to confound the child, but it does me too!]
My thoughts came up with 2 catchphrases:
Don't panic...Plan ahead!
and
Don't get stressed... get organised!
It worked for such an everyday thing as shopping and I'm sure it works for other aspects of daily life.
When I was young, I couldn't have predicted that I would put all my appointments on the calendar of a mobile phone with a reminder programmed in for the day before. I don't forget appointments now! I didn't make written shopping lists, which now save me money. I didn't file receipts and instruction books for appliances, but now I know where to look if anything needs a repair. I still don't clear out the file often enough, so I have paperwork for stuff that's long gone!
I certainly didn't make weekly menus and thus keep track of my VLC eating.
It's a shame I didn't work all this out when I was young. It actually doesn't take long to do.
I'm far from being some kind of paragon. I still lose my glasses several times a week. Likewise keys! BUT I now have time to search for them.
