Hi I'm just wondering what would be considered a good blood sugar reading in the morning, it's normal for mine to be around 7.7-8.1 is used to be around 5-6 I take gliclazide as I have transient neonatal diabetes, would be so good to find someone else with the same genetic type

Hi, Sorry not got your type of diabetes, however I have read about different types as I am very slim and active with a family history of lada, and my GPS had said my prediabetic state must be genetic.
But to answer your question a good bg reading in the morning would be under 6 to me.

Do you test your blood before and two hours after your first bite of eating any food to see what increases your bg too high. Whatever the cause of your diabetes it is important to avoid high bg levels for long periods of time.

Hi there 5-6 would be a much better number but I have been unable to maintain that as well. You may be dealing with dawn phenomenon which many of us do. There are many threads about it if you do a quick search at the top.

Sorry my first reply sounded a bit blunt, I didn't mean to be. But I felt strongly about this as I have two children who look about your age ( from your avatar) and if they had diabetes this is what I would say to them!!

By monitoring you may be able to reduce your bgs and reverse that upward tend.

Hi, I check my blood sugars regularly and up until about may I was getting perfect readings but I'm not getting anything below 8 in recent months, maybe I have let my control slip I was speak to my diabetic nurse thanks

Have you maybe gotten the carb creep? What kind of diet and foods do you eat?
