My morning fasting levels and 2 hours after breakfast have been pretty good for the past month, then this morning boom 8.5 two hours after breakfast of around 7 carbs, that was from a pre of 5.2....does anyone think that you can take too little carbs in morning causing a spike due to liver dump?
 

There are so many potentials for what happened, it's impossible to go into them all. But for examples:

-Maybe the particular carbs weren't the best for you
-You were just starting a liver dump as you tested "before" and therefore didn't record it, then ate "on top of it"
-You were a bit stressed between the tests
-You were more sedentary than usual in the 2 hour period
-You miscalculated the carb count
-Either test was "inaccurate", by virtue of all the usual factors; contaminated finger, meter variances, contaminated strip

So, it's best if you repeat the test at least another once (better twice) for further clarification.

Agree ....so many reasons it could be. I get some crazy high results and know they are incorrect....retesting proves that and is always worthwhile doing before panicking and worrying

washed hands before testing
no stress
tested 4 times on two different meters 8.0-8.5

maybe just one of those readings out of the blue

I feel your pain. We all get these unexpected blips from time to time.

It happens and it isn't worth worrying cos it is usually just a blip on the radar....even the weather can have a say in results so put it behind you and keep smiling Onwards and upwards
 
What's a liver dump presumably causes rise in Bg ? My morning Bg varies from 4.5 to 15 even when additional correction dose taken b4 bed,take vasodilator at night but have stressful job restless sleeper. (Also a mature woman and get hot flushes at night) Have tried everything I think 5 am checks etc. can anyone help / advise. Diabetic clinic nurses can't understand either?

I know zilch about insulin so can't advise with that. I can tell you that your liver will dump glucose in your system during times of stress, and also during restless nights.

In the second post, I made multiple suggestions, and there are many more. My first reaction though would be not to take a single high reading as reason to change anything; especially as it appears the meal had been previously tested and considered "safe".

Any changes or new food/drink should be tested more than once, unless it is really obvious. By really obvious (and I appreciate I'm stating the obvious here), I mean chocolate cake or bread and butter pudding, say.
 
My testing in morning is 8.9 after taking Metformin down to 7.9 then 2 hours after breakfast high feel so weak hot dizzy feel like I'm going to pass out but my doctor says u don't get hypos on Metformin is that right
