Hi I’ve been doin the LCHF for about 6 months now things were goin great . HbA1c was down to 42 readings were a little high in the mornings around 6 to 6.4 . Then someone said eat something before work to stop yer bloods goin up because of the DP . I started eating a cheese omelette and bacon before work and it was very successful. Last week my readings never went above 6 all week . Went out to a festival on Saturday and drank some cider 6 or 7 cans. Now I knew this would raise my bloods but I thought , back very low carb tomorrow it’ll be grand . This week my fbg levels have been in the mud 6s rising to 7 by lunchtime and back down to mid 5 by teatime . Still eating low carb exact same as always under 30 g a day . Is this rise still my body reacting to the drink on Saturday I really am confused . 7s are really high for me normally 5 to mid 6 . Any advice would be appreciated

6 or 7 cans is a lot for someone who doesn't normally drink to that level. You may have knocked your pancreas about (heavy drinking can cause pancreatitis, but you would have other symptoms if you had that). My advice is to try to keep to a max of 2-3 units of alcohol when you feel you want a drink.

Thanks for the reply . 6 months ago 6 or 7 cans over a day would’ve been ok for me . But now I think I’ll have to kick them to touch . Stick to the red wine . The funny thing is the next day my fbg was only 5.4 and didn’t go above 5.6 all day it wasn’t till Monday it started goin up but only till lunchtime then it comes down
