Just wondered if anyone had any advice/experience with managing morning insulin resistance.
Every morning, I take my 5u when I get out the car, walk 10 mins to work, do 30 mins of emails and then have my porridge (5cps). As you can see from the graph, the second I eat it shoots up very high then comes back down. This is c45 mins after injecting and leaving as late as I dare pre hypo!
Dsn has no idea and the only way I have got around it is having an omelette at a weekend or very little carbs. At work, I can't be making eggs and nothing else low cp seems to fill me up.
Just wondered if anyone else has had a similar predicament. Thinking would a morning run help, having two breakfasts (Double injection though :/ ),etc?
I could never work out how do deal with this, so just stopped having a carby breakfast - I have eggs a lot, but if you can’t do that at work, could you have some hard boiled eggs that you make the night before? I often have an avocado with mayonnaise and peanut butter or olives and cheese for breakfast.
Do you have access to a microwave at work ?
If so you could batch prepare servings of scambled egg servings in tupperware containers, or find some powdered egg to make them from.
I have always struggled with mornings. I give a higher ratio in the morning compared to the rest of the day, as my blood is very resistant. In the morning its 1 unit to 6 grams rest of the day is 1 unit to 10 grams. I try give it 10 mins before I eat, also eat low carbs in the morning and try fill up with avocados/tomatoes/eggs/ham and veg(mushrooms, spinach) or almonds. And it works for me.
I find I have to give insulin first thing when I wake up or it starts to rise quickly.
Do you give your long acting in the morning as some ware off before the 24hrs and blood can rise.
