I have a nasty cold and was expecting high BG levels. Sure enough, in the night I woke up and it was 7.6, but then when I got up in the morning it was only 2.6! Was feeling dreadful. Fortunately my son was able to quickly get me some juice. I have never had such a low result before.

maybe you need a lower dose of metformin when you are low carbing...

I have started taking all of my metformin in the morning as metformin made me go to the toilet up till 5 times in the night, now I am awake when it works the most and it doen´t seem to have affected my morning number so fine with that..
But don´t try that unless your GP aggrees with that...really some get too much when they go really low carb, sad to say I have not succeded in going low enough to stop the metformin yet...

I will talk to the doctor - am home, sick anyway, so might as well go to the doctor. It shot right up after breakfast to 9.6 - not surprising as as soon as I saw the result I had a spoonful of honey and then my son got me a glass of undiluted juice.

Hi Hope your cold is better and you are recovering x

Did you retest to make sure it wasn't a merer error?

Sharon - slowly getting better.
Kristin- I guess I should have, but I felt so dreadful and weak anyway with shaking, I just assumed it was right. If I get such a low result again I will do a retest.

I had a 1.1 reading once! Tested again and I was in low 7 area. Didn't believe I was that low.
