The opening header for the latest newsletter (01/07/2014) Motivation, is quite simply, an essential tool in your toolbox for helping with control of diabetes.
Having been diagnosed with type 2 12 years ago, I paid very little attention to the advice given by the professionals and if I wanted a chocolate bar I would have two followed by trifle, etc. etc.

Four months ago, following my Hb/1ac test, which revealed a massive score of 9.8%, My diabetes nurse said that because the result was so high and as i was on the maximum Metformin and Gliclizide my only option now was insulin injections.. This is where the Motivation comes in. I towed the line and cut out all sugar related products and followed the recipes from this site and the Heart Foundation magazine. After 3 months my Hb/1ac was down to 6.7% and a weight loss of 16 pounds. The only downside was that I was on too many tablets and kept slipping into hypo's. However, a quick consultation with the nurse resulted in a big reduction in my medication and now I'm stabilised. My initial motivation has encouraged me to carry on. I feel much better in myself and will continue on the path. Get motivated friends. It does pay.

Well done gojonny. I am sure a lot of T2s could reduce medication If they cut down on carbs. It seems most doctors and nurses don't tell them to though.
